Eco-luxury resort, just steps from the ancient Mayan ruins of Belize's jungle...

When I first came across the photographs of this vacation property on desiretoinspire.net, my heart started beating fast. I instantly fell in love with its stylish yet warm and welcoming interior design. I couldn't believe it's a boutique hotel, not a private property.

It's not only about interior design. The more I dig into it, the more I became fascinated.

- A luxury resort designed with sustainability in mind, embracing the local environment and culture -

[A little bit about the hotel] Ka'ana Belize is nestled in the jungle of Cayo District on the Western border of Belizenear Guatemala in Central America, where a number of Mayan ruins lie amid lush jungle foliage.
The resort was opened in 2007 by New York-based Irish brothers Colin and Ronan Hannan, who moved there in 2006 to create a luxurious place for travelers to stay while offering unique experiences of exploring the nearby Mayan ruins, rivers, rainforest, caves and waterfalls.
Ka'ana Belize, including all the custom designed furnitures, was created entirely from locally sourced raw materials carefully selected by the owners and designers in collaboration with local artists, craftsmen and builders.

No wonder why I got a sense of warmth and intimate at-home feel from the pictures.

Organic Garden
Organic Garden

It's also notable that the resort has two-acre on-site organic garden which supplies up to 80% of its herbs and vegetables daily served at the resort.

In addition, it's good to know for travelers that the resort is supporting local school programs and engaged in sustainable practices such as the 'Trade Trees for Travel' program, which invites guests to off-set their carbon footprint by planting a ginger lily free of charge as they depart.

Probably the keywords to describe this resort would be 'sustainable and stylish' + 'adventure and luxury'.

What I like about this property:
  • A combination of stylish design and locally sourced materials that create an intimate at-home feel
  • A combination of nature-oriented adventure and luxury with first-class personalized service
  • Fresh herbs and vegetables delivered to the table from their on-site organic garden
  • Owners' commitment to the sustainability of local environment and community
  • Location which offers a good chance to visit some of ancient Mayan ruins
  • Did I mention that they also offer overnight luxury camping at the base of a Maya Temple?
  • Anyway, I would love to soak in the tranquility, surrounded by the lush tropical garden in a jungle.
