Next time when I visit Bali, I'm determined to stay in Ubud area, where surrounded by deep and lush green along with scenic rice fields, just to relax and enjoy some peaceful time. I think this Vacation Rental named 'River Moon Villa' is perfect for that purpose.
With 180 degree rice field views, away from touristic bustle, I imagine having a relaxing tea time while listening to the singing of birds and insects, and enjoying a view of green blades of rice wave in the breeze.
One more thing I would definitely do while staying in Ubud is to photograph rice terraces in Tegallalang and other neighboring area. If based in this villa, it wouldn't be too hard to go out and try capturing rice terraces at dawn every morning.
[A little bit about the villa]
  • River Moon Villa is part of the Desa Bulan (Moon Village in Indonesian language), a small villa-complex comprising 5 houses with shared facilities.
  • Located 2.5 km (or 10 minutes drive) south of central Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.
  • Designed by Dutch duo Martje Nietzman and Erik van der Linden.
  • Owned by Kate Challis, an interior designer and stylist and author of the blog Urban Kaleidoscope and yoga teacher, who live between Melbourne, Australia and Ubud, Bali, with her husband and son.
  • It's a Two-bedroom self-catering villa with complimentary breakfast served daily.
  • The villa has 5 friendly local staff who take care of guest services, including breakfast, cleaning service, gardening, etc. (Even nanny or babysitting available on request.)

I love this indoor/outdoor living with Balinese style high ceiling, which creates an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. I think the charm of the River Moon Villa lies in the combination of modern aesthetic and Balinese traditional touches throughout. At first sight of the picture, I fell in love with 'alang alang' roofs (or thatched roofs) that fit perfectly in the rice fields.
